DUPUIS PARTICIPATES IN ‘WOMEN IN THE WINNER’S CIRCLE’ EVENT
On August 4, Renee will travel to Indianapolis (IN) to participate in the third annual “Women in the Winner’s Circle” event. The purpose of this undertaking is to spotlight successful women in motorsports.
The yearly event was conceived and developed by Lyn St. James - retired winning racecar driver and 7-time Indianapolis 500 participant. St. James organized the event after recognizing the need for the advancement and promotion of women in motorsports. Not just for women as competitors - and top-level performers - but as engineers, team managers, owners and other leaders. To be successful, St. James hopes to foster more support, more encouragement, more research, more development, and more awareness.
In May 2003 the first-ever “Women in the Winner’s Circle” event took place in Indy. Its purpose was to celebrate the achievements of women in motorsports – both behind the wheel and behind the scenes. It marked the first time a large group of women race car drivers and technical experts were brought together in one place - at one time - to share their thoughts, their challenges and their incredible enthusiasm with leaders in the motorsports industry and the community.
Because that first year was so successful, “Women in the Winner’s Circle” has become a highly anticipated annual event. This year the event has been moved to August to be held in conjunction with the NASCAR Nextel Cup Brickyard 400 and USAC events.
While the date has changed, the goals remain the same: to celebrate the achievements of women in motorsports and to help pave the way for future opportunities.
