Stafford Fall Final 150
For the final time in 2005, the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour visited the .5-mile Stafford Motor Speedway for the 35th annual running of the Fall Final on Sunday, October 2.
Of the 46 WMT cars on hand for qualifying, Renee timed into the field in the 27th position. Prior to the drop of the green flag, Renee and the No. 90 WMT car participated in an hour long pit party – where she met with fans, signed autographs and posed for pictures.
Despite running strong at the start, Dupuis battled handling problems most of the day and ended-up crossing the finish line in 19th place.
“While running on the lead lap - during the lap 50 caution - we came in to make adjustments to the car – only to discover we already blistered our right rear,” explained Renee. “As the field was coming to the green, we had to come back in and change tires. We planned on making further adjustments during the next caution – but we just never got another caution after – so that plan didn’t work out. We stayed out and did the best we could with what we had to work with.” Renee continued, “We have a new engine program and we’re looking forward to showing how strong that is when we return to Thompson next weekend.”
Following the finish, the team moved up into 16th place in the seasonal points standings.
With just two races remaining, the WMT will next be in action on Saturday, October 8 at Thompson International Speedway for a 100 lap double header with the NASCAR Busch North Series.
