Wall Township 150
12th Place
Finish is Season Best
This past Saturday evening Wall Township Speedway (NJ) played
host to the Featherlite Modified Series, NASCAR Touring
division for a 150-lap event. The eighth stop of the
2004 schedule was the Series’ second visit to the only
NASCAR facility located on the Jersey shoreline.
Once again, qualifying for the show proved to be a feat in
itself as 43 cars attempted to qualify for just 30
starting spots. All cars that qualified thru time trials
(including Renee’s lap of 12.327) broke the existing
track record – running the tight 1/3 mile facility at
average speeds of just under 100 MPH.
Starting deep in the field, Renee managed to avoid most of
the carnage (after being hit from behind while avoiding
a wreck she lost several laps in the pits repairing a
nerf bar that was rubbing on the right rear tire). In
the end, the team came home in 12th place –
their season best. The team remains ranked 19th
(out of 75 drivers) in the season long points battle.
Following the trip to Wall, the Series has a rare three week
hiatus. In fact, the next scheduled race is on Saturday,
July 17. At that time, the team will make the trip to
Maine’s Beech Ridge Speedway (Scarborough, ME) for
another 150-lap race.
